I inherited a number of Olympic prints, and this one is in excellent condition. It was in storage for decades and has never been hung, framed, or put on display.
April Greiman and Jayme Odgers are two of the 15 nationally known artists commissioned by The Olympic Committee for the 1984 Olympic Games in Los Angeles, California.
As described at the time:
“April Greiman and Jayme Odgers have collaborated to create a single work which combines photography and drawing. The resulting image is remarkable in that it visualizes both masculine and feminine qualities in color, form, and content. Is the athlete male or female? A runner, hurdler, javelin thrower, or broad jumper? The photograph of the athlete seems to be leaping/transforming from one very realistic (photographic image) reality toward another, more dreamlike, metaphorical reality.”
