Casket Jewelry Trinket Box- Gold Ormolu, Reims Cathedral, Reims, France

Antique French Jewelry Casket, a colorized lithograph of the Cathedral of Reims, on gold ormolu frame of three legs... a larger size (3" square, stands 2.5" tall), this has the thick bevelled glass on the top (not the sides). I like the emphasis on the colors of the evening sun going down, pinks and oranges, matching the pink silk lining on the inside. Reims Cathedral is famous for its gothic architecture and for being the location where Joan of Arc first identified the dauphin during the 100 years war. It was totally destroyed during WWI, and then rebuilt afterwards.

These were made for wealthy Europeans and Americans who were going on the Continental tours at the turn of the last century....I have more of these jewelry caskets for sale...I wish I had more, they are becoming harder and harder to find, especially ones with the landmarks of famous French cities on top.
