The story of Ladurée begins in 1862, when Louis Ernest Ladurée established a bakery in the heart of Paris at 16 rue Royale. However, tragedy struck in 1872 when a fire engulfed the little bakery, transforming it into a pastry shop and bringing in renowned painter and poster designer Jules Cheret to adorn its interior. At that time, Jeanne Souchard, Ernest Ladurée's wife, had a brilliant idea: to merge the Parisian café with a pastry shop, thus creating one of Paris's first tea rooms.

Fast forward to 1993, when Francis and David Holder acquired Ladurée, and the brand quickly gained prominence as one of the most renowned gourmet destinations in Paris. It became a veritable institution, with its iconic macaron serving as its emblem. In 1997, Ladurée expanded its horizons by opening tea rooms/restaurants on the prestigious Champs-Elysées, in the Printemps department store, on the Left Bank, and embarking on an international adventure with branches in London, Geneva, Monaco, and Tokyo.

Now, in this captivating book, Philippe Andrieu, the Pastry Chef at Ladurée, shares 100 of the most famous Ladurée recipes, carefully adapted for the general public. From the delightful Strawberry Cake with Rose Choux Pastry to the delectable Pistachio Financiers and the world-famous macarons in a myriad of flavors, Ladurée's culinary legacy is brought to life in a vibrant palette of pastries, adorned in shades of powder pink, light green, bright purple, and lemon yellow.

So, whether you're a pastry enthusiast or simply seeking to indulge in the finest French culinary creations, this book is a must-have for anyone who appreciates the art of fine dining. Prepare to be transported to the world of Ladurée and savor the deliciousness that has made it a legend in the pastry world.
