Vintage TEA GLASS HOLDERS (PODSTAKANNIK) "Exotic Flowers"


Metal alloy. Very good vintage condition.

Note that the faceted glass is placed in this podstakannik with a small gap, not quite tight. So I picked up a round glass of the right size.

The podstakannik (Russian: подстаканник, literally "thing under the glass"), or tea glass holder, is a holder with a handle, most commonly made of metal that holds a drinking glass. The primary purpose of podstakanniks is to be able to hold a very hot glass of tea, which is usually consumed right after it is brewed. It is a traditional way of serving and drinking tea in Russia, Ukraine, Belarus, and other post-Soviet states.

For the first time I have such podstakannik, this is a very rare model. I assume it is from the 1980s and made by casting.
